This is a very informative site. Can I reuse some content from this site like 100 instructions of the Quran, reference to Quran for particular topic etc. Thanks.

Ruby Amatulla 2017-01-26 10:25:33

Thank you. Yes, only if you make a reference to this site.

"..Beyond human comprehension"> a statement made in your Home Page. Can you please provide, a reference to Quraanic Ayah to support this view. Thanks, Kaleem

Ruby Amatulla 2016-12-05 21:58:05

Assalamu Alaikum, thank you for your query. A good reference is our website in which, Alhamdulillah, we have uploaded about 8,000 files containing Quranic verses, their meanings and the detail explanations or ‘Tafsir’ by both contemporary and/or classical commentators. If you check under the caption About God and then search for the sub-category God is Beyond Human Comprehension, open the folder by clicking on it, you should see 4 files that lay down God’s attributes as Al-Ghayb ( beyond human perception), Latiful Khabir ( unfathomable), etc. Please note that most of the translators mistakenly translated the Arabic word Al-Ghayb as ‘Unseen’. However see Asad’s translation and notes on verse 3, Sura Baqarah, as Beyond Human Perception. He explained why the meaning of Al-Ghayb is not Unseen. Amatulla’s notes further explain why Beyond Human Perception is the right meaning of Al-Ghayb.

Dear Dr. Radwan Masmoudi, thank you for your comment; coming from the Founder and President of the Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy (CSID), a Washington based organization that promotes democracy in the Muslim world, I appreciate your opinion.

Consultquran.com is an amazingly rich discussion on Quran encompassing all aspects of life. To me, here every word of Quran has been broadened into an epic but no deviation from "Seratul Mustakim" . Noble attempts have been made to appease contemporary questions & queries, yet overjealous adherence to these attempts(thoughts & solutions) by some led to sectarian divisions yielding fatal consequences. But these "Ijtehads" gave us more than what's snatched away from us. In this line we got Ibn Rushd, Ibnul Arabi, Ali shariyati, Abduhu, Jamal Afgani. Revered amatullah's lifelong saintly devotion to enrich that path will soon enlist her name to that starry series. Wa Salam...

Sister Ruby, Assalam-o-Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullah Wa-Barkatahu. I visited your site www.consultquran.com and found it very informative and well designed. I can see you have worked very hard and have developed a very useful site, Alhamdolillah. May Allah (swt) reward you both in this world as well as Hereafter, A’meen. I also went through all the comments and don’t think I can add any more. Sister Ruby, I feel you have a great concern, love, affection and pain for the current condition of Ummah. I share your pain and invite you to read my book, “Muslim in Transit.” After you finish reading I would certainly like to hear from you. Specially, I would like to hear what message you think I am trying to deliver and is it clearly expressed? If you prefer, you can email me your response, qamruzzaman@hotmail.com. Thanks.

Ruby Amatulla 2016-03-23 04:15:17

Dear Brother, Walaikum assalam. Thank you for your kind comments and sharing your thoughts with us. You have read my heart beat well. My deep affection and concern for the Muslim ummah drive me relentlessly to study the Quran, Hadith, Islamic theology, history, and the current affairs of the Muslim world seriously. This ongoing pursuit is to explore where we have collectively been failing Islam and how I can possibly help. I feel the ummah has deviated from the main spirit of Islam. We have more than 50 Muslim majority countries in the world today but most of them are not examples for the world. When we should be – following the teachings of the Quran - leading the world in setting moral standards, we are the gross violators of ethics and principles. God has endowed the Muslim world with more than 75% of the oil reserves of the world yet we fail to uplift our poor condition. This is due to a long trail of misunderstood concepts, misplaced priorities, human frailties, and in some cases even down right manipulations that have not been adequately addressed by the thinkers, scholars, and leaders of Islam. There should be a collective soul-search. Our ways need to change, our teaching methods need to change, our mindset needs to change.

Salam and greetings, Sr. Ruby. It is my utmost pleasure to see this site (Consult Quran). It is an ambitious project and up to a healthy start. I have already shared some suggestions to improve the visual presentation as well as the navigation of the site. I also believe that the "Fundamentals" you mentioned on the home page should be reduced to fewer. One of the problems Muslims themselves have created is to elevate everything (or too many things as fundamentals). The beauty of Islam is its simplicity, and one aspect of this beauty is that its fundamentals are simple, straight-forward, unambiguous and yes, in my humble view, FEW. Too many fundamentals make viewers, learners and followers lose track of their priorities. You may consider reducing these fundamentals to fewer and move some of these as details to inside pages. Just a thought. Regardless, may Allah bless your effort so that this site can grow further and be a resource for those seeking better understanding of Islam and its various aspects in our contemporary, contentious time. Fi amanillah.

Ruby Amatulla 2016-01-29 04:09:14

Thank you Brother for your thoughtful comments. We are fixing some of the layout problems you have mentioned. However, regarding the Message of the Holy Quran [the center-piece message] I could not agree with you very much. I have gone through point by point again and I could not cut down much. These are some of the root ideas about which there are a lot of misconceptions causing deviations, divisions and conflicts in the Muslim world. It is true that the essence of the Quranic Message is simple. However the complexities the 'umma' faces demand that these issues be touched upon in the main message of the site.

Imad-ad-Dean Ahmad, Ph.D. 2015-12-26 06:20:28 Comment

Mary, the mother of Jesus, (pbuh) is a Prophet by definition and is recognized as such. By definition because a Prophet is addressed directly by the angels as Mary (pbuh) was addressed. She is recognized as such because when mentioning her name we follow it by "peace be upon her."

Ruby Amatulla 2015-12-26 06:27:03

Thank you Brother Imad-ad-Dean for your comment, I agree with you wholeheartedly, however, I do not know whether most of the Muslim umma will agree with you or not?

Dr. Mohammad Omar Farooq 2016-01-26 10:24:37

Salam and greetings. I agree with Dr. Imad-ad-Dean Ahmad regarding the issue of prophethood. However, Sr. Ruby's concern is also valid, since the broader community considers prophethood limited to men only. At the same time, we must also inform ourselves and the rest of the community that there are also notable religious scholars who have had divergent view on this. For example, Imam Hazm (Zahiri School) argued that prophethood is not limited to women. His views are presented at http://globalwebpost.com/farooqm/study_res/islam/gender/women_prophethood.html. Fi amanillah.

Congratulations,Ruby Amatullah for making people aware of the different aspects of life and environment embodied in Islam which is basically a way of life. There is hardly any aspect of life that has not been addressed in Islam. You have written on most of these things in a trite manner which is commendable .I am confident that people of all religions will get a good grasp, though your writings, of the stand of Islam on things that touch our life.Good governance is the cry of all people on earth. That Islam has great insistence on this is apparent from your article on Principles of Governance in Islam.May Allah reward you for your writings. The Holy Quran is not a book of science. But one is amazed to find out the importance of scientists and of the actual culture of science which is still a weak point of people whole who profess Islam. This is mainly due to the fact that most of those who read the Quran do not understand science and most of those who understand science do not read the Quran. Some work has been done on scientific indications in the Quran and on the urges by the Creator to study His Creation( Vide Verse 10:101 of the Holy Quran, which is precisely the Agenda of science). You could mention some of these in order to encourage people to go for KALAM(The Message of the Creator for Mankind)and QALAM(Pen,which is symbolic of knowledge in general and science in particular and mentioned in the first of the revelations)at the same time. I wish your writings extensive readership

I deeply appreciate the comment coming from the Founder and visionary leader of the PLM party in Tunisia that vehemently advocates democratic rule, multi-party system and national cohesion. Your suggestion is well-taken. That would be part of our future projects. Thank you.

I welcome “Consult Quran” it is a healthy addition to learning about life and living it. Indeed, as Muslims we should consult nothing but Quran. I glanced over a few articles, particularly about Pluralism, that is my expertise – Pluralism in general and Pluralism in Islam. It’s breath of fresh air to read a few pieces. God has created a well integrated and diverse interconnected world to function in harmony (55:7-11), and expects us to sustain and manage it. We have the responsibility to work towards it, as we are called the managers (Khalifa) of our surroundings. All that God wills for us is to sustain the balance and harmony. Quran is a book of wisdom in creating cohesive societies, where no human has to live in apprehension or fear of the other. I recently wrote an article – Quran is not for Muslims at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mike-ghouse/quran-is-not-for-muslims_b_6174940.html The role of Muslims is to contribute towards the well being of humanity, and to be the conflict mitigaters and goodwill nurturers. Our goal is a secure world for every human. We are all one family, and each one of us is a progeny of Adam and eve, and God made us into different tribes, communities, nations, (and faiths, as God acknowledges other faiths throughout the Quran and does not condemn any one, but assure them that if they are good to fellow beings, their reward is with him) races and other uniqueness (49:13), which prophet reaffirmed in his last sermon - not to discriminate any one based on any one of those criteria. Thank you Mike. This indeed is a humble effort against ignorance and extremism. The Quran lays down principles and values whereby an individual and a nation can attain peace, justice and progress. The Quran indeed is the manual for true success in this life and in the Hereafter. Your organization has large followings, please spread the word.
