40 Ghafir (Forgiving)/al mumin

Mecca 60 [85 verses]

The Quranic Text & Ali’s Version:

ذَلِكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ خَالِقُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ...

40:62. Such is Allah, your Lord, the Creator of all things,

... لَّا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ...

there is no god but He:

... فَأَنَّى تُؤْفَكُونَ ﴿٦٢﴾

then how ye are deluded away from the Truth!

C4436. If we worship false gods, i.e., go after vanities, what is it that deludes us and leads us astray?

What could it be but our rank ingratitude and failure to use the understanding which Allah has given us?

كَذَلِكَ يُؤْفَكُ الَّذِينَ كَانُوا بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ يَجْحَدُونَ ﴿٦٣﴾

40:63. Thus are deluded those who are wont to reject the Signs of Allah.

If men are deluded by Falsehoods, it is because they reject Revelation and refuse to learn from the Signs of Allah all around them.

Asad’s Version:

(40:62) [Asad] Such is God, your Sustainer, the Creator of all that exists: there is no deity

save Him. How perverted, then, are your minds! 45

(40:63) [For] thus it is: perverted are the minds of those who knowingly reject God's messages. 44

Yuksel’s version:

40:61 God, it is He Who has made for you the night to reside in and the day to see in. Surely, God provides many blessings upon the people, but most people are not thankful.

40:62 That is God, your Lord, Creator of all things. There is no god except He, so why do you deviate?

40:63 Thus, those who used to deny God's Signs were deviated.
