36. Surah Ya Sin (O Thou Human Being)

Mecca 41

Asad’s Version:

36:81 Is, then, He who has created the heavens and the earth not able to create [anew] the like of those [who have died]? Yea, indeed - for He alone is the all-knowing Creator:

(36:82) His Being alone 48 is such that when He wills a thing to be, He but says unto it, "Be" - and it is.

(36:83) Limitless, then, in His glory is He in whose hand rests the mighty dominion over all things; and unto Him you all will be brought back!

The Quranic Text & Ali’s Version:

فَسُبْحَانَ الَّذِي بِيَدِهِ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ...

36:83 So glory to Him in Whose hands is the dominion of all things;

and to Him will ye be all brought back.

C4029. All things were created by Allah; are maintained by Him; and will go back to Him.

But the point of special interest to man is that man will also be brought back to Allah and is answerable to Him, and to Him alone. This Message is the core of Revelation; it explains the meaning of the Hereafter; and it fitly closes a Surah specially connected with the name (Ya-Sin) of the Holy Prophet.

43. Zukhruf(Gold)

Mecca 63 [89 verses]

Asad’s Version:

43:85 And hallowed be He unto whom the dominion over the heavens and the earth and all that is between them belongs, and with whom the knowledge of the Last Hour rests, and unto whom you all shall be brought back!

The Quranic Text & Ali’s Version:

وَتَبَارَكَ الَّذِي لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا...

85. And blessed is He to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all between them:

C4682. We glorify Allah, and we call His name blessed, because He has not only supreme power and authority, but because we shall return to Him and see "the Light of His Countenance" (30:38).

with Him is the knowledge of the Hour (of Judgment):

And to Him shall ye be brought back.

45. Al-Jathiyah (Kneeling Down)

Mecca Period 65

Asad’s Version:

45:15 Whoever does what is just and right, does so for his own good; and whoever does evil, does so to his own hurt; and in the end unto your Sustainer you all will be brought back.

The Quranic Text & Ali’s Version:

مَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَلِنَفْسِهِ وَمَنْ أَسَاء فَعَلَيْهَا ...

45: 15. If anyone does a righteous deed, it enures to the benefit of his own soul;

if he does evil, it works against (His own soul).

C4751. Ordinarily good and evil come to their own even in this world; but in any case there is the final Judgment before Allah.

In the end will ye (all) be brought back to your Lord.
