6. Sura al-Anam
The Quranic Text & Ali’s Version:
ثُمَّ
آتَيْنَا مُوسَى
الْكِتَابَ
تَمَامًا عَلَى
الَّذِيَ أَحْسَنَ
وَتَفْصِيلاً
لِّكُلِّ شَيْءٍ...
6: 154. Moreover, We gave Moses the Book, completing (Our favor) to those who would do right, and explaining all things in detail,
C980. The revelation to Moses went into the details of people's lives, and thus served as a practical guide to the Jews and after them to the Christians.
Admittedly the Message delivered by Christ dealt with general principles only and in no way with details.
The message of Islam as in the Quran is the next complete guide in point of time after that of Moses.
...وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لَّعَلَّهُم بِلِقَاء رَبِّهِمْ يُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿١٥٤﴾
and a guide and a mercy, that they might believe in the meeting with their Lord.

Asad And once again: We vouchsafed the divine writ unto Moses in fulfillment [of Our Favor] upon those who persevered in doing good, clearly spelling out everything [note 156], and [thus providing] guidance and grace, so that they might have faith in the [final] meeting with their Sustainer.
Yusuf Ali Moreover We gave Moses the Book completing (Our favor) to those who would do right and explaining all things in detail and a guide and a mercy that they might believe in the meeting with their Lord.
Pickthall Again, We gave the Scripture unto Moses, complete for him who would do good, an explanation of all things, a guidance and a mercy, that they might believe in the meeting with their Lord.
Transliteration Summa a_taina_ mu_sal kita_ba tama_man 'alal lazi ahsana wa tafsilal likulli syai'iw wa hudaw wa rahmatal la'allahum bi liqa_'i rabbihim yu'minu_n(a).

14. Surah Ibrahim
The Quranic Text & Ali’s Version:
14: 1. Alif Lam Ra.

... كِتَابٌ أَنزَلْنَاهُ إِلَيْكَ لِتُخْرِجَ النَّاسَ مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَى النُّورِ بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِمْ...
A Book which We have revealed unto thee, in order that thou mightest lead mankind out of the depths of darkness into light -- by the leave of their Lord --
C1870. It is insisted on that every Prophet speaks not from himself but from Allah. His leading into the light is but by the grace and mercy of Allah, not by any power of his own, or by any merit of those who hear him.
...إِلَى صِرَاطِ الْعَزِيزِ الْحَمِيدِ ﴿١﴾
to the Way of (Him) Exalted in Power, Worthy of all Praise! --
C1871. In this and the next verse where the sentence is completed, three qualities of Allah are mentioned, viz.,
- His exalted position above all Creation;
- His goodness, which entities Him, and Him alone, to Praise- and
- His Power in all heaven and earth.
Thus He stands in no need of man's worship; His goodness is all for the good of man (and His creatures); and His control over His creatures is complete; so He can carry out His Will and Plan.
وَلَقَدْ
أَرْسَلْنَا
مُوسَى بِآيَاتِنَا
أَنْ أَخْرِجْ
قَوْمَكَ مِنَ
الظُّلُمَاتِ
إِلَى النُّورِ...
14: 5. We sent Moses with Our Signs (and the command),
"Bring out thy people from the depths of darkness into light,
...وَذَكِّرْهُمْ بِأَيَّامِ اللّهِ...
and teach them to remember the Days of Allah."
C1876. "The Days of Allah": the days when Allah's mercy was specially shown to them.
Every day and every hour and minute, Allah's grace flows to us abundantly, but there are special events in personal or national history which may be commemorated as Red-letter Days. Those to the Israelites were set out in great detail in 2:30-61 and on other places.
...إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لآيَاتٍ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُورٍ ﴿٥﴾
Verily in this there are Signs for such as are firmly patient and constant -- grateful and appreciative.
C1877. Sabbar is the intensive form, and includes all the ideas implied in Sabr (2:45 and n. 61, and 2:153, n. 157) in an intensive degree.
Shakur and Shakir have in them the idea of appreciation, recognition, gratitude as shown in deeds of goodness and righteousness.
Both terms are applied to Allah as well as to men.
A slight distinction in shades of meaning may be noted.
Shakur implies that the appreciation is even for the smallest favours and response on the other side; it is a mental attitude independent of specific facts.
Shakir implies bigger and more specific things.

Asad A divine writ which We have bestowed upon you from on high in order that you might bring forth all mankind, by their Sustainer’s leave, out of depths of darkness into light : onto the way that leads to the Almighty, the One to whom all praise is due.
Yusuf Ali Alif Lam Ra. A Book which We have revealed unto thee in order that thou mightest lead mankind out of the depths of darkness into light by the leave of their Lord to the Way of (Him) Exalted in Power Worthy of all Praise!
Pickthall Alif. Lam. Ra. (This is) a Scripture which We have revealed unto thee (Muhammad) that thereby thou mayst bring forth mankind from darkness unto light, by the permission of their Lord, unto the path of the Mighty, the Owner of Praise.
Transliteration Alif La_m Ra_, kitabun anzalna_hu ilaika litukhrijan na_sa minaz zuluma_ti ilan nu_r(i), bi izni rabbihim ila_ sira_til 'azizil hamid(i),

Asad ……..and remind them of the Days of God! Verily, in this there are messages indeed for all who are wholly patient in adversity and deeply grateful [to God].
Yusuf Ali We sent Moses with Our Signs (and the command) "Bring out thy people from the depths of darkness into light and teach them to remember the Days of God." Verily in this there are Signs for such as are firmly patient and constant grateful and appreciative.
Pickthall We verily sent Moses with Our revelations, saying: Bring thy people forth from darkness unto light. And remind them of the days of Allah. Lo! therein are revelations for each steadfast, thankful (heart).
Transliteration Wa laqad arsalna_ mu_sa_ bi a_ya_tina_ an akhrij qaumaka minaz zuluma_ti ilan nu_r(i), wa zakkirhum bi ayya_milla_h(i), inna fi za_lika la a_ya_til likulli sabba_rin syaku_r(in).
