25. Surah al-Furqan, Mecca 42

The Quranic Text & Ali’s Version:

الَّذِي لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ...

25: 2. He to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth:

... وَلَمْ يَتَّخِذْ وَلَدًا وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ شَرِيكٌ فِي الْمُلْكِ ...

no son has He begotten, nor has He a partner in His dominion:

... وَخَلَقَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ فَقَدَّرَهُ تَقْدِيرًا ﴿٢﴾

it is He Who created all things, and ordered them in due proportions.

Allathee lahu mulku alssamawati waal-ardi walam yattakhith waladan walam yakun lahu shareekun fee almulki wakhalaqa kulla shay-in faqaddarahu taqdeeran

Asad’s Version:

(25:2) He to whom the dominion over the heavens and the earth belongs, and who begets no offspring, 2 and has no partner in His dominion: for it is He who creates everything and determines its nature in accordance with [His own] design. 3

[ The expression: faqaddarahu taqdeeran means due proportion, due measure, due regard, proper valuation, etc. all these. In this regard it connotes ‘precise proportion and measure’.

Ali’s comment:

C3055. The majesty of Allah and His independence of all wants or help are mentioned to show how exceedingly great is His goodness in revealing His Will to us.
