10. Surah Yunus, Mecca 51

The Quranic Text & Ali’s Version:

وَمَا ظَنُّالَّذِينَيَفْتَرُونَعَلَىاللّهِالْكَذِبَيَوْمَالْقِيَامَةِ...   

10: 60.  And what think those who invent lies against Allah, of the Day of Judgment?

...إِنَّاللّهَلَذُوفَضْلٍعَلَىالنَّاسِوَلَـكِنَّأَكْثَرَهُمْلاَيَشْكُرُونَ ﴿٦٠﴾

Verily Allah is full of Bounty to mankind, but most of them are ungrateful.

Transliteration Wa ma_ zannullazinayaftaru_na 'alalla_hilkazibayaumalqiya_mah(ti), innalla_halazu_ fadlin 'alanna_siwala_kinnaaksarahum la_ yasykuru_n(a).

Pickthall’s Version:

10: 60

Pickthall And what think those who invent a lie concerning Allah (will be their plight) upon the Day of Resurrection? Lo! Allah truly is Bountiful toward mankind, but most of them give not thanks.

Ali’s notes:

C1448. People who lie in Religion or invent false gods, or false worship,-have they any idea of the Day of Judgment, when they will be called to account, and will have to answer for their deeds?

C1449. Allah is most kind, and gracious, and generous with His gifts of all kinds, material and spiritual. But men do not understand, and are ungrateful in forgetting the Giver of all and setting up false objects of worship and false standards of pride.
